Hydroponics Feeding Guidelines

So you now have your homemade hydroponic systems set up and want to learn how to feed your plant. Well, this is a very important thing in hydroponics as in this case you don’t have soil that already contain the right nutrients for the plants but you need to add the nutrients to the solution by yourself to make sure that the plant will grow well.

For detailed guide or if you want to grow specific plants you may want to buy a hydroponics how to guide, but here we will talk about feeding in general.

Phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium are the main three nutrients that your plants need. Also you need some minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium and others. The leaves of the plant need nitrogen to grow, roots need phosphorus and the defensive mechanism in the plant need potassium which stimulate the production of enzymes.

If you want to make your life easy you can buy pre made hydroponic solutions, but sure that you are adding the right dose that your plants need, for example flowering plants need higher dose than germinating ones. Also keep your system in the room temperature and in good lightened place.

If you are going to use tape water keep the water in room temperature for about 24 hours to make sure that the excess chloride is evaporated as it evaporates easily in room temperature. There is another option and it is to use distilled or mineralized water which already contain some useful nutrients.
